Daniel Barragan's participation in Forgad al Aire Program
Daniel Barragan, Director of the International Center for Research on Environment and Territory (CIIAT) of Hemisferios University, was a special guest on the program "Forgad al Aire" of Radio Voz Andina International. During his participation, Daniel shared his experience and knowledge on the topic of Open Government from a subnational perspective.
During the program, Daniel Barragán highlighted the importance of Open Government as a management model that seeks to put the citizen at the center of public management, thus making it possible to offer better solutions to the problems faced by citizens and generate greater public value. He highlighted the fundamental role of local governments in the implementation of this model, pointing out that, although Open Government is not new in the country, there have been significant advances in terms of transparency and citizen participation.
Barragán mentioned concrete examples of Ecuadorian municipalities, such as Quito and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, that have proven to be pioneers in the implementation of Open Government, being part of the Open Government Alliance and developing their own action plans. He also emphasized the importance of political will and the need to break paradigms within institutions to achieve a real transformation in the organizational culture towards openness and collaboration in public management.
