The first edition of Space Day, an event organized by the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) in collaboration with Leviathan Space Industries, was held with great public attendance and the participation of leading experts in the space field.

The event was attended by the renowned space historian and author of 18 books on space exploration: Rod Pyle. In addition to representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, Joint Command of the Armed Forces, National Planning Secretariat, Ecuadorian Air Force, Ecuadorian Navy, AMCHAM, UTPL, ESPOL and the Military Geographic Institute.

Space Day was held on February 29 at the USQ facilities and was structured in two panels: Research and Public Policy and Linkage.

In the research panel, experts from different institutions, including our Dean of the UHE School of Engineering, Mauricio Robalino, discussed the importance of space research, with emphasis on the development of leadership skills for future astronauts.

In his speech, Mauricio mentioned that the most important areas of research are:

Our dean also highlighted the importance of working first on the development of people and emphasized that Hemisferios University, through its agreement with the Milo Mission Academy, has a strong commitment to the development of people. Milo Mission Academyoffers a valuable tool for the formation of leaders in the space field.

He concluded his participation by stating that "At this moment, Ecuador has a real opportunity to train the country's university community in these specific leadership skills that the space industry needs".

The panel on public policies and linkage focused on the importance of public policies for the development of the Ecuadorian space sector, as well as on the need to link society to this project and publicize the opportunities it offers.

At Hemisferios University we are proud to have been part of this event of great relevance for the future of the country in space.
