UHE students selected for prestigious "Creadoras sonoras" residency at the Teatro Nacional Sucre

The Ecuadorian music scene is illuminated by the talent of three students from the Hemisferios University Music program, Arelí Loaiza, Tabata Rivadeneira and Ariana Bastidas, who have been selected to participate in the prestigious "Creadoras Sonoras" residency, organized by the Fundación Teatro Nacional Sucre .

This initiative, framed in the commemoration of International Women's Day, seeks to celebrate and promote the active role of women in music and sound art, reaffirming their place as agents of change in the cultural field. The residency is conceived as an intergenerational and collaborative space, where experienced sound creators meet with artists in training or emerging, such as UHE students.

Arelí Loaiza, one of those selected, expressed her excitement and shared an inspiring message for other women who aspire to dedicate themselves to music: "Believe in yourself. Music takes you in a process of connecting with yourself, it is a transformative process of which every step is worth it."

For her part, Ariana Bastidas expressed her happiness and pride in representing UHE in this important event, marking one of her first steps in the world of music. "Since I was 13 years old I discovered my passion for music, and now I have the opportunity to develop it in this unique space," she commented.

Tabata Rivadeneira also expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to share and learn from other talented women. "It is exciting to see how women are gaining ground in the music industry and sound art. Learning from other female creators and sharing our experiences is fundamental to continue growing," she said.

The Creadoras Sonoras residency, aligned with the mission of the Fundación Teatro Nacional Sucre to promote diversity and innovation in the arts, offers a space for the exchange of knowledge, discussions and workshops. The objective is to strengthen the autonomy and creative capacity of the participants, making visible strategies of resilience, sorority networks and innovative practices that have allowed women to make their way in the industry.

This program represents a celebration of women's creative agency and a recognition of their ability to lead and transform the cultural landscape. UHE is proud to have its students be part of this initiative, where sound art resonates strongly, marking new routes for expression and gender equality.
