Environmental Conservation and Care Journalism Program

We launched this initiative that addresses the complexities of communicating about environmental crime.

The International School of Communication and Cultural Industries, in close collaboration with Internews, USAID and WCS, celebrated the official launch of the program "Journalism for Conservation and Environmental Care - Environmental Crimes Chapter". This initiative is developed under the framework of the regional project 'Conservando Juntos' (Conserving Together).

The inaugural event took place on February 1 at the Audiovisual Production Center. Our Dean, Juan David Bernal, shared the achievements of the first edition of the program, held in 2023. He also highlighted the successful training of almost a hundred professionals, including journalists, communicators, photographers and audiovisual producers.

On the other hand, our faculty member Diego Ortiz led the presentation of the team of trainers, providing additional details about the call and the benefits associated with participation in this innovative program. It should be noted that all participants will receive a certificate of 20 hours of training, issued by Hemisferios University.

This innovative program aims to award 30 scholarships to communicators and journalists from the Ecuadorian Amazon, providing them with specialized training to address the complexities of communicating about environmental crimes.

Hemisferios University is the first university in the country to promote this type of initiative, reflecting its commitment to sustainable development. Together we are forging a future where communication plays an essential role in the protection and preservation of our natural environment.
