International collaboration and academic leadership address the challenge of trade in adulterated and counterfeit products

The School of Government of Universidad Hemisferios, in collaboration with national and international public institutions, has successfully carried out the Third Intensive Program on "Measures to Combat Illegal Trade". María Fernanda Román, Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences and Director of the School of Government, provided details on how to address the problem of trade in adulterated and counterfeit products for human consumption.
During this program, an exchange of experiences and knowledge took place with the participation of delegates from the Peruvian Ministry of Health DIGEMID, who shared information on their efforts to control counterfeit and adulterated drugs. This international collaboration was fundamental in enriching discussions and strategies to combat this scourge.
María Fernanda highlighted the joint initiative between the Universidad Hemisferios and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility to promote the signing of the "Medicrime Agreement" in the Americas, with the aim of making Ecuador the first and only signatory country. The purpose of this agreement is to promote legal measures to combat the counterfeiting of medicines at the criminal level, thus strengthening the protection of public health.
The program includes a two-week program with an academic load of 60 hours, offering participants comprehensive and specialized training in the fight against illegal trade.
