On Friday, April 26, a discussion was held in collaboration with the IAPSS, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences.
We had the participation of Jorge Peñafiel, Assemblyman for Pichincha; Santiago Ullauri, political scientist and researcher and Karina Granja Altamirano, expert in Public Opinion and professor at the School of Communication.
Among the conclusions, it was highlighted that President Noboa began with a favorable governance. However, now there are certain weaknesses that led to a drop in credibility figures of citizen perception and acceptance, in addition to the distancing with allies in the legislative bloc and the latest energy crisis.
Karina mentioned that we must remember that the vote of confidence given to her by the citizens with the results of the popular consultation may play against her because public opinion has other times that are not the same as the times of the legal framework. Therefore, in her opinion, the results do not mean that it will be a perfect catapult to build her pre-electoral image before an eventual candidacy for reelection.
The analysis of the results of the Ecuador 2024 referendum was a space for dialogue and reflection that allowed our students to learn about the country's situation and to form their own criteria in the face of the political situation.
